Born in an artist's family in 1937 in the village of Nayagaon of Munshigonj district. Mr. Hai graduated in BFA from Dhaka Art College securing the first position in 1960. He then join the then East Pakistan small Industries Corporation as a Designer in the Design Centre. Left the service in 1976 to devote himself totally to his creative pursuits.

Mr. Hai participated in numerous group painting exhibitions at home and abroad and also held a number solo art & painting exhibitions at Dhaka. He won a number of prizes and certificates for his work. He is a keen student of nature and in its environment which is reflected in all his works.

Besides being a painter he is also a good singer and an instrumentalist. He composes lyrics and tunes also. His songs are regularly broadcast from radio Bangladesh.

The song of APEX BANGLADESH has been composed and set to tune by Mr. Hai.
